The Clintonville Woman’s Club is a private clubhouse and has been a classic favorite for Columbus weddings and receptions since 1965. Located on North High Street, within the I-270 loop, with options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies, large or intimate receptions, and three different catering options (plated meal, dinner buffet or brunch), the Clintonville Woman’s Club has something for everyone.
Outdoor spaces include a wide-open field and gazebo atop the Adena Brook Ravine for larger ceremonies or the back patio for smaller ceremonies. For receptions, the spacious indoor ballroom has cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, hardwood floors, tall picture windows for natural light, and a built-in stage for the head table.
The Woman’s Club considers the facility a community service, and therefore, strives to make events affordable, memorable, and worry-free. The club owns its own catering company, and is able to offer non-for-profit catering prices, so the average cost for a 100-guest wedding is $6400.
Some unique “bonus” features include no additional fee to use the outdoor patio or ceremony site, the ability to bring your own alcohol, free on-site parking, and a wedding cake from Cakes of Distinction (Powell) included in all reception packages. Plus it’s adjacent to the Whetstone Park of Roses, a stunning location for wedding photos!
Clients offer effusive praise for this venue, like this review from TheKnot.com, “The Clintonville Woman’s Club is true GEM and is a wonderful venue. It is a buried treasure of Clintonville. It is much more affordable than other venues in Columbus; however the service is Top Notch!!! We were married under a beautiful canopy of trees with a gorgeous background and then the reception was inside in an already tastefully decorated space. The best part was that the staff was on top of every detail. I was able to completely relax and enjoy my day to the fullest.”
Organized, knowledgeable, flexible, professional, and kind, Kristen Steinhausser, the Director of Sales and Catering, is proud of the Clintonville Woman’s Club’s ability to make weddings beautiful, personalized, and affordable. She loves to make couples’ wedding planning as stress-free as possible and makes it her priority to carry out her client’s wishes for their event. Also knowing the importance of easy and comfortable communication, Kristen makes every effort to be available to answer questions and offer advice leading up to the wedding, and calm nerves on event day. One rave review states, “Kristen calmed my frazzled nerves when it rained and I had planned an outdoor ceremony by reassuring me that no matter what happened a plan was in place. The staff was attentive and made sure our guests had everything they needed.” Her favorite moment is feeling the excitement in the air as the couple first arrive at the venue, knowing all their planning has come to fruition and they are about to have the time of their lives celebrating their marriage with family and friends.
Below are Kristen’s answers to our questions about her background and Clintonville Woman’s Club weddings. Responses have been lightly edited for length and clarity.
What is your professional background? How did you get into coordinating weddings?
I have worked at the Clintonville Woman’s Club since 1981, starting as a server in high school. I have been the director since 2007, so everything I know, I learned on the job.
How can couples personalize their wedding at the Woman’s Club?
We are very flexible with guest requests! We have a large inventory of vases, mirrors, wood slices, cake stands, table numbers, etc. that couples are welcome to incorporate in their decor at no charge. We never ever “nickel and dime” anyone.
What’s your favorite part about coordinating weddings at the Woman’s Club?
I love to be a part of carrying out the couple’s vision of a perfect day. I get to meet so many nice people and help their wedding day dreams become a reality.
What’s the wildest thing a couple has ever requested?
I can’t put my finger on the wildest thing but I do know, the second I think I have seen everything over the last 39 years I see something I have never seen before!
What’s your best wedding day advice for the couple?
Don’t forget that the entire point of a wedding and reception is to celebrate your marriage. This day will be one that you remember for the rest of your lives and if something goes a different way than what you have planned, no one will know the difference. There is no wrong way to do it. Relax, have fun, and enjoy every second!
